Apni Avani

A very cute blog, which talks about the simple things that bring joy. It makes me want to quit my job & spend ALL my time doing something like this! Couldn’t find anything better to restart my blog…

Easy search on your android

Thanx to Google Labs & my friend Sangram (who btw loves sharing knowledge more than ANYone I have ever known!), I have now installed Gesture Search on my SGS. Yes there is the usual Google search widget which normally sits on your front screen & you type into it to search through anything on your phone or online, but this one is so much cooler! It’s Sangram’s favorite & so I highly recommend it :)

Counting sheep?

Yes, a cute sheep is what this app uses as its icon. Relax and Sleep is a very simple android application created by Mizu Software Solutions, where you can select your favorite soothing sounds & lull yourself to sleep. I’ve been using it almost everyday since I downloaded it! So I just HAD TO blog about it :)

The best part I like is the timer. The app will keep playing & then shut after those many minutes. So when I know I might not sleep sooner, I increase the countdown to 10/15 minutes as opposed to the usual 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can set it as an alarm.

My favorite sounds are the Thunder & the Windchimes, but also listening to Crickets & Frogs for a change these days ;)

A better life, a better you…

… in 30 days. Are you following Celes already? Then you must’ve surely seen her 30-day challenge. Yes I know none of us have that kind of time & isn’t it too much to do, blah blah.

I can’t seem to spare even a few minutes to do anything for myself. I cannot put things in a routine. And is all that really going to help? I’m sure we all have all these thoughts & questions.

But then, what is the harm in trying? How about treating it like a game you play for a month (like so many of those that you play on Facebook!)? How about just having faith in the activity & thinking MAYBE it will help straighten out ATLEAST a few things :)?

I am not perfect & I am still not done with Day 2 when it’s Day 3 already. But it’s ok.. even for you. I’m sure you will catch up when you see it is worth. Give it a shot!

Watched a Marathi play at Vishnudas Bhave, Vashi. Did something like that after 4 years! We used to do it very often when I was in school. Should certainly start again :)

What was also special about today is that Mom met her childhood friend after 34 years! I used to hear a lot about Meera Maushi, but until a few days back, I didn’t realize that they’d been friends since they were 12 and had not met in so many years. I wonder how they’ve managed to be out of touch & still be so so excited & happy to see each other again.

But yes, it happened to me too, just a few days ago, when my school friend Devanshu appeared on Facebook out of nowhere! It was so great catching up & remembering those silly things we did in school :D Even his Mom remembered me… how sweet :)

I guess everyone makes loads of friends in life, but very few are lucky to have friends that remember you no matter what & catch up with you no matter how many long years have flown by. The last few days have been full of reunions.. hey, another close friend of mine had a college reunion today. I’m glad he’s going to be happy & excited too. Wish things like these happen more often!

So well, this post doesn’t really talk about U-Turn, the Marathi play. It’s a very good play though, just 2 people acting. Dad loved it. Must watch! :)

Trying Windows Live Writer

It was the usual update happening on Dad’s Sony Vaio when I noticed that there were some optional updates too. I went ahead to check what all was there & found Windows Live Writer. The moment I saw it mentioning “wordpress” in it’s list, I selected it for install.

So this is my trial post. I’m already getting a feeling that blogging like this is going to be quite convenient for someone as lazy as me :)

Let me try putting in an image…

Wow! That was easy… that’s my niece by the way :)

Too many tweets?

Yeah my twitter was overflowing with tweets. Either ways I was never reading ALL of them. I’d started using Tweetdeck in between, but still it was out of control. I knew I needed to unfollow some people & I did.

But today I came across this article on Lifehacker and it talks ManageFlitter. It filters tweeters by “Talkative”, “Quiet”, “Not following back”, “Inactive” … just makes unfollowing easier :) I’m sure all you guys on twitter need this.
